Jaguar Land Rover is a British brand well known for producing the world’s most desirable and luxurious SUVs and 4x4s. Their industry leading systems and components really set their vehicles apart from other manufacturers, with this no-compromise approach making their Range Rover, Discovery and Defender models highly coveted as a result.
No vehicle is beyond upgrade however, with the Land Rover Discovery 3 and 4 both known for their air suspension shortcomings as 4WheelDriveGuide explains:
“They all, unfortunately, have a weak point no matter how advanced or complete they appear, and the air suspension on the LR3s is no exception. The whole purpose of the air suspension was to deliver superb ride quality under a variety of conditions. This is achieved most of the time and when it works, it works really well! Unfortunately many customers, after purchasing the vehicle, started experiencing some or other suspension faults.”
You don’t have to put up with poor suspension any longer thanks to our Air to Coil Conversion Kit from Dunlop.
What exactly is a delete kit?
Let’s start with the basics. An air to coil conversion kit – like the ones we stock from British brand Dunlop – is also referred to as a ‘delete kit’. 4×4 owners can use these kits to delete their air suspension and improve vehicle performance, ride and handling.
Delete kits contain all the components required to remove or disable the suspension, but they’re not strictly reserved for suspension systems. An Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR), Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) or Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) delete kit can also be relied on to upgrade your emissions control system to better service your vehicle’s engine. The result of which is increased horsepower, better torque and compliance with the latest emissions requirements.
Why replace your OE EAS air suspension system?
The EAS air suspension system supplied as new across many Land Rover Discovery Series 3 LR3 (2004-09) and Series 4 LR4 (2009-16) was cutting edge at the time and, when working correctly, is a useful setup that delivers the desired results. Over time however, the failures of this factory air suspension system became more apparent.
EAS system failures have left many Discovery LR3 and LR4 owners completely stranded without warning. Such failures are difficult and costly to rectify. Instead of wasting money repairing your OE suspension however, deleting it could provide a higher quality and more reliable alternative.
Where do I start when deleting my Discovery suspension?
With our Dunlop conversion kits of course! We stock air suspension delete kits for the Land Rover Discovery Series 3 and Land Rover Discovery Series 4 to ensure you have the premium components to enjoy a reliable and long lasting suspension package. Each kit contains front coil springs, rear coil springs, front shock absorbers, rear shock absorbers, strut top mounts and EAS override module to facilitate a complete, bolt-on solution that goes far beyond other options.
Can I replace my suspension while retaining original features?
In short, yes. The supplied EAS override module retains original features such as Terrain Response, headlight levelling and information screen functions. In addition to this, it also unlocks several improvements in terms of ride quality, lift height, on- and off-road comfort, and load carrying characteristics to ensure a suspension system that gives you the confidence to adventure anywhere.
