As a leading upgrade for a wide range of vans, including the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Series 3 W907 and Volkswagen Transporter T6, Koni dampers represent premium aftermarket additions for the discerning van driver.
Designed and developed mainly for vans rather than 4×4 applications, these shock absorbers are as heavy duty as it gets, making them ideal for use both on and off the road. With two types of Koni dampers to choose from – namely Active and Special products – selecting the right shocks for your needs isn’t as easy as it seems…
Want to alter your shocks yourself?
If the answer to this question is “yes”, you should explore our range of Koni Special Dampers. Here Driving explains more about the user adjustable system:
“Regular shock absorbers do adjust to the road surface; on a harder bump, the shock’s internal piston will move more, and encounter more resistance from the hydraulic oil. But there are also shocks that can be adjusted by the driver for a firmer or softer ride, and systems that automatically adjust depending on road conditions.”
Available for the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter (Series 1, 2 and 3), Iveco Daily (Series 4 and 5), Volkswagen Crafter (Series 1), Toyota Hiace (Series 4 and 5), and Volkswagen Transporter T4, user adjustable Koni Specials, use a twin-tube hydraulic construction to open up a whole world of opportunities across all terrains, including rough, off-road and on-road. They’re also well suited to vans with heavy loads or builds.
Want self-adjusting absorbers? Choose Koni Active!
Our Koni Active Dampers use self or automatic adjustment to help van owners unlock a range of benefits both on and off road. Perks include optimum handling and grip, maximum performance, enhanced driving characteristics, and a rugged construction that is made to last, even if you plan to make future vehicle changes or weight additions.
Koni Active dampers come pre-calibrated with no form of user adjustment possible or required, leaving you to enjoy the advantages of enhanced suspension without lifting a finger.
We stock Koni Active Dampers for several vehicle makes and models, including but not limited to the Jeep Commander (2005-10), Jeep Grand Cherokee (2005-10), Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Series 3, Mercedes-Benz V-Class Vito Series 3, Nissan X-Trail Series 3, and Suzuki Grand Vitara Series 3.
Are Active or Special dampers right for me?
Finding the dampers for your specific vehicle make and model is of course step number one. For those looking for greater control over their ride and handling, the user adjustable Special Dampers may be a better fit, and they’re simple to use too.
To adjust, push the piston shaft all the way into the shock body. This will engage a fork into the adjuster, with each half-turn increasing or decreasing rebound forces by 15% to make the ride firmer or softer. Those looking to make future changes to their vehicle will also find the Koni Special more accommodating with no need for replacement thanks to their adjustable nature.
