Overlanding is a pastime that offers thrilling adventure at every turn. Whether it’s exploration or the chance to challenge yourself that drives your love of overlanding, your vehicle is certain to be the star of the show as well as the apple of your eye.

There are some great vehicles for overlanding out there; the Mitsubishi L200 is certainly up there with the best as this review from Honest John explains:

“It won’t win any awards for power or refinement, but the Mitsubishi L200 remains one of the toughest and most versatile pick-ups you can get. All versions are well-equipped and comfortable, while its proven 4×4 system will haul heavy loads to the places that vans dare not go. Like Marmite, the front-end styling of the Mitsubishi L200 Series 6 will divide opinion, with buyers loving or loathing it in equal measure.”

Rivals of the L200 Series 6 may have more power, but it is its capability on and off the road that makes it the ideal vehicle for overlanding. Those keen to prime their MR further ahead of their overlanding trip should consider the following upgrades…

1. Flashlube Diesel Filter Water Separator

Depending on your route, chances are you could come across fuel that isn’t the highest quality on your travels, and diesel carries a much greater risk of contamination.

Dirty, contaminated, poor quality diesel has the potential to ruin your truck from within. Don’t let it put a dampener on your overland trip by investing in the original (and best) diesel filter water separator system. The German-engineered Flashlube Diesel Filter Water Separator protects your engine from serious damage, and prolongs the life of injectors and other components so your adventure can continue.

The separator essentially stops water from passing through to keep your fuel pump and injectors free from water and dirt particles. If condensation is allowed to form, your vehicle could be subject to rust, pitting, bacteria growth and reduced lubrication, which means a very unhealthy engine and fuel system indeed.

2. DBA Xtreme Performance Brake Kit

Boost brake performance and improve stopping power whatever the conditions by fitting this DBA Xtreme Performance Brake Kit in your Mitsubishi L200 2019-21.

It’s vehicle-specific, heavy duty, and made for overlanding and so much more. By upgrading your brakes beyond the limitations of your OE system, you can unlock several advantages. This includes reduced brake fade, improved component life, and reliable braking for heavy and modified vehicles.

3. N4 Skid Plate Underbody Protection Kit

There are many reasons why you need underbody protection. Overlanding offers its own challenges that leave your vehicle’s underside open to damage.

Skid plates offer a great vehicle protection solution that will prevent punctures to your fuel tank and other essential parts. If you are looking to safeguard your L200’s underside, the N4 Skid Plate Underbody Protection Kit should be your go-to.

4. Terrain Tamer Parabolic Leaf Springs

Make the performance of your Mitsubishi L200 Series 6 MR as refined, predictable and easy to handle as possible, even when carrying heavy loads, by fitting premium leaf springs. Terrain Tamer Parabolic Leaf Springs provide the most reliable solution to ensure a ride quality that just can’t be beat whether your vehicle is fully loaded or empty

5. N4 Hidden Winch Mount Plate

Hide away essential recovery gear with this heavy-duty winch mount system from N4. The N4 Hidden Winch Mount Plate is great for regular and occasional overlanders who don’t want everything on display with a full winch bumper. It’s compatible with the factory bumpers of most MR models, as well as the underbody protection we recommended earlier, and even boasts a hard wearing, corrosion resistant finish.
