Recovering your 4WD can be tricky at the best of times. Carrying the right gear is important to ensure both successful recovery and safety. Unfortunately, most modern vehicles do not come with recovery points (the factory lashing eyes or tie-down points which many vehicles have should NEVER be used as recovery points) so it is common to see risky and unsafe recoveries being attempted in the off-road world.
AVM a long-established Brazilian manufacturer best known for their heavy duty freewheeling hubs and wheel spacers, also offer a range of heavy duty recovery points. This product is rated to 9,000lbs and is designed to be mounted to a secure, flat surface with the provided fasteners. For surfaces thinner than 1.5mm, a backing plate is provided for reinforcement and should be placed on the inside of the mounting surface.
To ensure safe operation, the AVM Recovery Point should be mounted to a flat, secure surface which can easily withstand a line pull of more than 10,000lbs. Mounting to the vehicle’s frame is recommended, or to steel bumpers and bull bars if they are sufficiently secured to the vehicle.
