Airbags are a popular and useful upgrade for vehicles which carry widely varying loads. When your 4WD or pickup is used for towing trailers, caravans, horse boxes, or when carrying heavy loads for trade or leisure purposes, the rear suspension cannot always cope well. From the visual problem of the vehicle sitting too low at the rear to the functional and safety issues this causes such as light and vague steering, a durable solution is needed.

It is of utmost importance that any airbag system is hugh quality and durable, as it needs to be able to cope with heavy loads over and over again without failing and leaving you stranded. For this reason, Pedders have teamed with Airbag Man, the world leaders in airbag technology, and Firestone – the most respected name in the world of airbags.

Easy to install and simple to operate, Pedders air bags can be installed on their own – providing easy and quick inflation with either a foot pump, portable compressor, or at a petrol station. As an option, it is possible to add an onboard air compressor which can be controlled via dual cabin-mounted paddle switches. Each air bag can be controlled independently to level the vehicle as needed and this system can also be used when camping to level your vehicle when parked. For the ultimate convenience, the system can also be controlled via an optional wireless remote control, allowing you to visually monitor and level the vehicle quickly and effortlessly.

The optional air tank kit is supplied with an on-board 4.5 litre air tank, 5m inflation hose, tyre inflation tool with built-in analogue pressure gauge and inflation adapters for items including air beds, boats and footballs. This kit can only be added in addition to the Airbag Controller Kit. All required fittings are included.

Selecting the right kit for your vehicle height and usage is very important. Air bag kits are intended for cars, vans, motorhomes 4WD models and pickup trucks with varying load requirements. The airbag kit must be correct for your ride height; different height airbags are available for some models to cater for lifted or lowered vehicles.

Pedders Air Assist airbags improve the towing ability of the vehicle, as well as compensating for sagging in the rear associated with carrying weight. The system also restricts bottoming-out caused by travelling over rough and uneven terrain. It is recommended that replacement leaf or coil springs should be installed if they show signs of fatigue or if they have sagged significantly. It is important to note that this kit does not increase the Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW).
