There’s a reason (or should we say several reasons!) why the Ford Ranger has been one of the nation’s bestselling pickups for so long. Its practical design, handling and loading flexibility has made it a firm favourite time and time again, with the PX Ranger in particular applauded for its versatility as Unsealed 4×4 explains:

“V8’s and convertibles aside, it wasn’t until decades later, in 2011, that the Ford Ranger as we know it today arrived on the scene. Ford built the PX Ranger to handle anything thrown its way, whether it was for work or play. It was designed to be a ‘one-size fits all’ ute, capable of being a workhorse during the week and a warrior on weekends.”

For those using their Ranger PX for work and play, upgrading your T6 to help, rather than hinder, its versatility is vital for staying true to Ford’s vision as well as realising your own. Read on to discover the top PX upgrades for work and enjoy a capable pickup that’s made for performance, comfort and utility.

1. Storage

Make the most of every inch of your load bed by fitting the ARB Outback Modular Drawer Storage System. This two-drawer design has been developed with the Ford Ranger in mind, with the PX, PX2 and PX3 all able to be catered for.

Like most of ARB’s storage solutions, the drawer system is fully configurable and completely customisable with a series of upgrades available to personalise your setup further. With this in mind, the drawer system is the perfect pickup addition for tradespeople, veterinary surgeons, emergency response staff and many more professions.

These heavy duty, water resistant, UV stable drawer units move on robust bearing rollers and runners, and offer 100kg capacity per drawer. They’re also stackable, meaning you can increase the capacity of your Ranger PX your way!

2. Performance

A better performing vehicle will also be important if you use your Ranger for work purposes. Thankfully, this can be enhanced rather simply, regardless of whether your vehicle is petrol or diesel, manual or automatic.

The EVC Throttle Controller will deliver the performance boost you need, providing the means to tap into better throttle response, reduced throttle lag, enhanced acceleration, and an improved driving experience overall.

3. Towing

It’s not just acceleration that plays a vital part in your Ranger’s performance. Handling can also be improved to keep performance smooth and safe, especially if you regularly tow or carry heavy loads for trade. Give the rear suspension that often struggles during towing a helping hand by fitting a Pedders Airbag Kit to your Ford Ranger 2011-15.

This TUV certified kit provides all the fittings required, plus an optional Air Assist compressor to aid suspension and steering as you negotiate heavier loads. Pedders air bags are easy to install and even simpler to operate, with speedy inflation via a foot pump, portable compressor, or at a petrol station. The kit has been developed for work and leisure, and tried and tested to take all the rigours of on and off road use in its stride.

4. Security

Convert the open load bed of your T6 into a secure, fully enclosed space with a little help from EGR Load Shield. The vehicle-specific, key lockable, aluminium hard cover is one of the best, most secure and versatile options around, with its rugged good looks certain to impress any Ranger owner.

As well as securing your load area with ease, the tonneau cover doubles as a handy work area that’s sure to be useful for tradespeople and other professionals when on site or on the road.

5. Suspension

Toughen up the suspension of your Ranger PX with this custom Old Man Emu OME Suspension Lift Kit, and enjoy notable improvements in handling, load carrying and safety .

The OME lift kit has been tested extensively both on and off the road, and provides a complete system (with no additional parts needed) to make poor ride quality, unpredictable handling and safety issues things of the past.
