Alcon was founded in 1983 by racing driver and engineer John Moore. The company had one sole purpose – to develop and manufacture brakes for Audi Sport’s Group B Quattro rally cars. From their base in the UK, Alcon have always been largely focused on professional motorsport and their products and innovations have been involved in countless race and world championship wins.

As the fast road market developed in the USA and Europe in the 1980s and 1990s, some of the most discerning end users turned to Alcon for super high grade brake kits for their road cars.

Alcon products, whether it is a Big Brake Kit for your street car or racer, armoured products for the military, or clutches for world championship use, are no ordinary upgrades and will therefore sit well outside of mainstream markets in terms of both price and performance. From Alcon’s first Formula One World Championship win in 1986 to helping Audi sport win world Touring Car championships, Alcon are trusted and revered for their commitment to developing the finest and most durable products money can buy.

There are few cases where you would find Alcon products on factory-standard road vehicles, but one such example is the Aston Martin Valkyrie. The Valkyrie project is like no other car development project in history, and so it is really no surprise that Aston Martin approached Alcon for help with making their 1,139 HP V12 hybrid stop in as short a distance as possible.

If you have ever wondered what vehicle has the world’s largest production brake package, this title belongs to the Bentley Continental GT with its 420mm mono-blot aluminium rotors. Alcon are also the official GT Championship Program supplier to Aston Martin Racing, Bentley Motorsport and McLaren Racing.
