Filter byRoadsafe Automotive Products was founded in Melbourne in 1994 by car enthusiast Colin Smith. After establishing and then selling two different sunglasses businesses, Smith started a new business which concentrated on the automotive industry. Initially acting as a reseller, Smith soon realised that the market for ball joints, tie rod ends and other front end suspension components warranted his attention.
After selling products for other brands, Smith realised that there were several gaps in the market. One of the first new ranges to be released by Roadsafe was their now well known and highly recognisable range of rated recovery points.
In the 4×4 world, vehicle recovery is a common scenario and yet many of the products available are not really fit for purpose. Huge line stresses are present when either recovering one vehicle with another, or when winching. If the recovery process involves using any insufficiently strong or poorly attached equipment, this weak point will of course be the first point to fail – and this can lead to disastrous consequences such as serious injury or vehicle damage. Tales of bumpers being ripped off or winch hooks flying through the air are commonplace at off road trails, and yet this can be largely avoided by using correct techniques and properly designed and attached recovery gear.
Almost all Roadsafe recovery points are sold in pairs, and equalising the load is key to a successful and safe recovery. A distinctive bright yellow powder coat finish was chosen for the range, which allows the recovery points to be easily spotted – even in poor light conditions. Last, but certainly not least, every recovery point was fully tested and certified, achieving an official load rating.
So, there are two distinct types of recovery point in the market: rated and unrated. Whether you have a Hilux, Land Cruiser, D-Max, L200, Ranger, Navara or one of a long list of current and older models for which Roadsafe has developed their rated recovery points, if you value your safety or that of others nearby, properly rated recovery points is the only sensible option.
Another noteworthy Roadsafe range is their highly regarded Blackhawk control arms. Roadsafe upper arms are built to be more stable and more durable than factory arms, for improved tyre contact and better suspension rebound control. Another benefit is having improved tyre and spring clearance, for installation flexibility.
The Roadsafe range is rounded out with a plethora of suspension and steering products – including panhard rods, relocation brackets, tie rods, trailing arms, swivel hub kits and spacers. With such a large range of high quality parts to choose from, you could make a significant and lasting difference to your ride and handling without making any significant component changes.
4×4 Works are proud to be the UK’s importer and retailer for Roadsafe and Blackhawk products. With a huge product range available to order, you can now find out first-hand why these brands are so popular in Australia. We are fully product trained and are here to answer any questions.
