TRED Pro protection products are the world leaders in developing durable and effective vehicle extraction systems and recovery boards. But, with various different recovery boards available and some offered at bargain bucket prices, is TRED Pro worth your investment?

Developing an effective and reliable vehicle extraction board, which can be used in a variety of conditions, presents some significant challenges. The boards need to be lightweight, easy to clean and simple to store – but they also need to be able to cope with the weight of a Land Cruiser, a Hilux or a Ranger. Users across the globe will be using recovery boards in varying conditions and terrains – from mud to sand and from mulch on the jungle floor to snowy and inhospitable valleys in the arctic circle.

So, what is the difference between a genuine TRED Pro recovery board (or sand ladder, as they are known in some parts of the world) and some of the cheap, copy products on the market? Well, some of the differences are more obvious than others – but we have seen cheap boards at 4×4 shows which are thin, brittle, flimsy, do not have proper traction studs and just don’t have the qualities needed to rescue a vehicle when the need arises. Low grades of plastic can be used to keep cost down and the manufacturers don’t have the tooling or the know-how to make a genuinely useful product.
